Q&A

A little more than it seems.

Practical answers before you email support.

Getting started

What is HiCalculator?

It is a working calculator with a private space you set up behind your passcode.

How do I open my vault?

After setup, enter your passcode in the calculator and use the unlock action shown in the app. Keep your passcode private and do not share it with support.

What can I keep inside?

The vault can hold media, notes, passwords, contacts, attachments, and private browser information, depending on your plan and app version.

What is Decoy Vault?

Decoy Vault is a separate space opened with its own passcode. It is available with Pro.

How to use HiCalculator

How do I get started?

Open HiCalculator and complete the setup prompts. Choose a passcode you can remember but that is hard for someone else to guess. Take a moment to learn the unlock action before adding anything important.

Can I use it as a normal calculator?

Yes. Use the calculator as you normally would. Your private space stays separate until you use the unlock action you created during setup.

How do I add something to my private space?

Unlock the private space, choose the category you want, then use the add action shown there. Review what you selected before saving—especially when importing media, notes, contacts, or passwords.

How do I find something later?

Unlock the private space and open the category where you saved it. Give notes and saved items clear names so they are easier to recognize later.

What should I do before changing or deleting an item?

Double-check the item and keep a verified backup of anything important. Deleting an item or losing access to a device can make recovery difficult or impossible.

What is the safest way to leave the app?

Lock the private space when you finish, then return to the calculator. Do not leave the private area open when handing your phone to someone else.

Privacy and access

Can support open my vault or reset my passcode?

No. HiCalculator does not keep a master key. If you forget a passcode or backup password, support cannot unlock or recover the encrypted information.

Is my vault uploaded to a HiCalculator server?

Vault content is stored in private app storage on your iPhone. HiCalculator does not operate a vault-content server.

What happens if I delete the app or erase my device?

Local vault data may be lost unless you have a working backup. Make and verify a backup before deleting the app, resetting, selling, or replacing a device.

Backups and devices

How do I move to a new iPhone?

Create an encrypted backup, keep its password safe, restore it on the new device, and verify your data before erasing the old device.

How is my backup encrypted?

Backups use zero-knowledge AES 256-bit encryption. All vault data, settings, and media files are encrypted on-device into a protected archive using a 256-bit key derived from the SHA-256 hash of your chosen backup password. Decryption occurs strictly on your device during restore; if the password is incorrect or data has been altered, decryption fails automatically.

Can I use iCloud?

Pro users may choose to copy an encrypted backup to personal iCloud storage. You remain responsible for the backup and its password.

Why can’t my backup be restored?

Check that the backup file is complete, the backup password is correct, and the app has finished the restore. Do not overwrite or erase a working copy until you have verified the restored data.

Should I keep more than one backup?

Yes. Keep a separate verified copy in a location you control. A backup cannot help if the file is missing, corrupted, or its password is forgotten.

Pro, billing, and refunds

Can I restore Pro on another device?

Yes. Choose Restore Purchases on a device using the same Apple ID as the original purchase.

Does a one-time purchase renew?

No. A one-time purchase does not automatically renew. Apple displays the purchase terms before you confirm.

How do subscriptions renew?

Subscriptions renew under the terms Apple displays at purchase unless canceled through your Apple Account. If a trial is offered, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew.

I was charged after renewal. Can support refund me?

No. Support cannot approve or reverse an Apple charge. Cancel future renewals in your Apple Account and submit any refund request through Apple’s Report a Problem service. Refund eligibility is decided by Apple and may vary by region.

Why does Pro not appear after purchase?

First confirm that the device uses the same Apple ID as the purchase, then use Restore Purchases. If the issue remains, email support with the product name and what the app shows—never send your Apple ID password.

Still need help?

Send your iPhone model, iOS version, app version, and clear steps to reproduce the issue. Never send a passcode, backup password, encryption key, or private vault content.
